A little bit about the music classroom:

In music class students will sing, move, listen, imitate, explore, experience, analyze, classify, create, share, perform, notate, read, improvise, cooperate, and most importantly HAVE FUN!!!! We strive to create innovative, engaging lesson plans which include singing, playing instruments, and moving in each of our lessons. Music is important here at Dolvin Elementary. Studies show that students who receive music perform better on tests involving reading, math, problem solving, and logical thinking.

The Music Teachers

Megan Endicott

I am a native of Forsyth County, Cumming Georgia, where I was raised and went to school. After high school I went to the University of Georgia and earned my Bachelor Degree in Music Education. At the University of Georgia my main instrument was the oboe and I marched in the University of Georgia's Red Coat Marching Band playing the piccolo. After graduation I landed my first teaching position at Cumming Elementary School in Forsyth County for 2 1/2 years before transferring to Fulton County. I have now been teaching at Dolvin Elementary since 2004. I have been elected by my colleagues as one of the Honor Teachers of the Year in 2007 and 2011, 2015, and named Teacher of the Year in 2016.  I earned my master's degree in Educational Technology from Central Michigan University. I am currently working toward earning my EDS in Instructional Technology and EDL Leadership add-on certification at Kennesaw State University.

I serve as a Fulton County Fine Arts Support Teacher and coach and provide support for elementary music teachers across the district. I have been asked to host professional learning opportunities for the Fulton County elementary music educators focusing on incorporating music technology into the classroom as well as presenting to the county CSTs what rigor looks like in the music room. Additionally, I serve as a member of the Fulton County VanguardTeam which has enabled me to work alongside with classroom teachers toward transforming their classroom into a global community and personalize student learning. I now serve as a member of the Fulton County Vanguard Leadership Team as one of the Vanguard Lead Coaches for the Northeast Learning Communittee. I work with educators across multiple grade levels and disciplines to support a personalized learning environment in their classrooms, build capacity, and seamlessly integrate technology.

I have presented at various conferences on topics such as PBL, Personalized Learning, Rigor & Blooms Taxonomy in music, Voice and Choice, and App Smashing to name a few at conferences such as: ISTE, CUE, TI:ME, GMEA, GaETC and local school district professional development sessions. I have lead and co-hosted PlayDateATL and EdCamp Fulton. As a passionate technology enthusiast, I am an ambassador for TouchCast, Seesaw, WonderWorkshop Innovation Squad, Plickers, Osmo, Quaver's Marvelous World of Music, Edmodo and Symbaloo as well as a Nearpod Certified Trainer and PioNear.

I am Orff Level 1 Certified and completed my Teaching Guitar Level 1 course.  I have feature blog posts on Nearpod, Quaver's Marvelous World of Music, and Edmodo blogs. I also will be featured in THE Journal web journal on coding and robotics in the music room. I was featured in as Quaver's first ever Teacher Feature on their webinar series. I am both thrilled and honored to be selected as a winner of the Atlanta Families' Award of Excellence in EducationMusic history is an interest of mine; therefore, I began writing children stories based on music history.  My first published book is "In the Hall of the Mountain King".  I am the co-team leader for Dolvin Elementary School's Relay for Life Team, and led Dolvin in community service and charitable events. Team Dolvin has earned top fundraiser and best campsite since 2010. Music is my passion and I am thrilled I have the opportunity to share my knowledge and love of music with our youth.
