<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">To participate, Mr. Denney and I would like you to record yourself performing a musical talent. Consider making this a polished performance as if you were playing or singing live in front of an audience. Think about costuming, staging, and/or creating a set or backdrop. If you are playing an instrument, consider dressing in your concert attire.
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

The 2nd grade is proud to present our musical, "Spaced Out", which will be held on Thursday, October 24th, at 6:00 PM in the Dolvin Cafeteria. Students are encouraged to arrive at 5:30 PM to begin getting into costume. Please be advised that the school doors will not open until 5:30 PM. Your child will need to war jeans and a white shirt: all other costume necessities will be provided by the music department. If your child has received a character assignment they will need to wear their assigned costume. We will hold a performance for the student body Thursday morning at 8:00 AM; therefore, you will need to send your child to school with their costumes for the morning performance. Please check the music department website for any additional information at www.dolvinmusicendicott.blogspot.com.

We are also in need of parent volunteers to assist with the set-up of the cafeteria following the conclusion of our performance Thursday evening. Please email Megan Endicott if you would be willing to assist.

Please e-mail the music department if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you Thursday, October 24th, at 6:00 PM for our performance.

Thank you,
AMAZING! All students are working in unit 1: rhythm, beat, and meter. These past few weeks have been about learning routines and procedures and just having fun being together! We have been exploring steady beat verses no steady beat and our preference for each. In addition, we have been moving and playing instruments to the beat to discover that some pieces of music are more difficult to "find" the beat! We look forward to moving into musical notation and meter (or how the beats are grouped) in the upcoming weeks and look forward to sharing more with you as we ramp up our Seesaw accounts! Be looking for information soon!

I know a lot of 4th and 5th graders are getting excited about the beginning of chorus. We will begin accepting chorus paperwork next Tuesday and will begin rehearsals next Thursday, September 5th. Please read the information on the chorus link about chorus dismissal and the strict policy about late pick up. I have an appointment across down on Thursdays at 4:30 and cannot be late. Be brainstorming carpool setups or your back up plan in the event something unforeseen pops up. You may begin signing up today on the website by clicking on the chorus link above! Be aware that the chorus polo purchase link may not be active until next Tuesday. New to Dolvin? Check out my YouTube channel to peek at some of the great things happening at Dolvin ES!

2nd & 3rd graders are beginning work on their musical, Dig It and Spaced Out! Check out the musical tab above for dates and click on the specific tabs to begin looking at the audition scripts, lyrics for practice, and home, and any particular costume needs. We are looking forward to all of the fun!

Finally, I am helping run the tech team again alongside Kaitlyn McMahan (EIP), Jenn Shaffer (AA), and Sue Thomas (Media Center). We currently do not have decisions made on the progress and hope to be posting the final list by next week. We had a lot of interest and a lot of forms to review! Please be patient as we make the best decisions possible.
As we take off to enjoy family, friends, relaxation, and vacations to prepare for the return of our students, we say a fond farewell to our 5th graders! This is a special group I am going to miss dearly.

As an exciting way to send off, the Music Tech Team (MTT) hosted their final podcast series of the year spotlighting unit 4, form and timbre, as well as featured guest interviewee Mr. Tim Corrigan, the Fulton County Northeast Learning Community Area Superintendent of Schools! The students and I had a wonderful time getting to know more about Mr. Corrigan as well as hear about how involved music is in his life and career. This is a feature you don't want to miss!
auditioning for a special role in this year’s musical, we will be recording
student auditions next Tuesday and Wednesday. Audition scripts and a list of

As we return, I wanted to let you know that chorus is officially up and running for any 4th and 5th grade student wishing to sing and perform. We meet every Thursday from 2:30 - 3:30. Please ensure you have signed up using the online form on this link: https://dolvinmusicendicott.blogspot.com/p/dolvin-chorus.html. Please ensure you click the submit button for their information to be properly transmitted. In addition, please consider joining our Remind group to receive constant updates and reminders as we move through the year. Chorus polo shirts will be purchased through the online payment system this year. All information and needed links can be found on the chorus page. Last, we will communicate through Google Classroom. I will send an email once we are up and running with the join code so your students have access to news, notes, lyrics, and tracks for practice.

We are excited to announce the 3rd grade musical, "Dig It", is back and running! I will be placing a link to lyrics and audition scripts for students to practice at home. The show will be Oct. 18th. Auditions will be held within the next two weeks. Be looking for practice papers!

2nd graders will be working on their musical, "Spaced Out", to align with their 2nd grade science curriculum. We will also hold auditions within the next few weeks. Paperwork will come home with your children based on their interest in particular part assignments. The date for the show will be November 1st.

Kindergarten and 1st graders will be playing instruments, games, and performing folk dances to internalize steady beat and differentiate between beat and rhythm. We will be moving into reading and writing basic rhythmic notations over the course of the month. Ask Me Cards (or notes via Seesaw) will be coming home soon!

You may not have noticed, but due to the 10-day count, we lost one day of Mr. Denney. I will be updating the schedule soon, but have picked up 3 more classes; therefore, Class Dojo and Seesaw have not yet really kicked off. It is my intention to get the new classes loaded and running as soon as possible so you may begin seeing all of the wonderful things we are doing in class. In addition, you may have noticed a silence on social media. That is because I was waiting on the media release forms to be submitted. Now that all forms have been properly assessed, I hope to post pictures and videos of student work beginning this week!

Speaking of posting! My Music Tech Team hopes to have their first podcast up and running this week with a special interview with new Dolvin principal, Karen Cooke! The kids are so excited and we hope you will be too! Check back for updates!Megan Endicotthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03536800381897369560noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6836801085295073.post-30681556111268950682018-08-19T19:59:00.000-07:002018-08-19T19:59:09.838-07:00Week 3 updates in the music room! I am so excited to announce that I have all of my classes uploaded into Seesaw and hope to record a special message to you with our music goals for the year. In addition, all students have been loaded into Class Dojo to help promote our positive music behavior.

Both the second and third grade musicals are occurring this first semester; therefore, we will begin working on our songs in class and tying them into the new Georgia music standards. Notification for auditions will be coming home in the next few weeks. In addition, we will house song lyrics and audition scripts on this website to help students prepare at home.

Chorus will begin after Labor Day. We will rehearse on Thursdays from 2:30 - 3:30. Mrs. Polaski will be working with me as the co-director again this year and we can't wait to begin. A school messenger will go home with sign up details as soon as they are live.

As always, reach out with any questions! This is going to be a GREAT year!

I know you are excited to begin a wonderful new school year, and so am I! As we kick things off, I wanted to go ahead and make you aware of some important upcoming dates and notes.

First of all, we will begin accepting chorus participants. The Dolvin chorus is open to any 4th and 5th grade student who enjoys singing, dancing, and acting. All sign up information is online. To access this information, please click on the Chorus link above. We will be creating our very own Edmodo group where all chorus information will be housed. Due to security reasons, I will not publish this code online, instead, I will send an email the first day of chorus. Please do not submit any checks for chorus polo shirts until the first and second weeks of chorus rehearsals. I'd like to get them all at the same time to help with the ease of the deposit process. For your convenience, we will strive to keep an updated calendar with events on the chorus page to aid in clear commication. Please consider joining our Remind group. This group will send you text or email notifications for important reminders, such as: audition due dates, concert reminder dates, etc.. Consider signing up today!

All K-2 students participate in a musical performance at Dolvin Elementary School. The dates will be updated this week for the performances so you may mark your calendars accordingly. Our second grade musical is first! We will begin working on the musical the second week of school with auditions for special roles the 3rd and 4th week of school. If you would like a closer look at the musicals, click on the link above that says Musicals.

As always, please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions! I look forward to a wonderful year of music making with you!

Thank you,
Hi everyone! This is my last post for the 2016-2017 school year. We had a great time learning together in the music room! To end the year, the music tech team thought it would be amazing to share our final podcast with Dolvin favorite, Graham Hepburn, Quaver in Quaver's Marvelous World of Music. The kids had an incredible time. I only wish we could have had a few more minutes! We look forward to more podcasts with next year's music tech team to keep you in the loop for all music room related activities. Until then.... have a happy, and wonderful summer!!!! (Check out the Teacher's special end of the year video for the students below the podcasts at the bottom of this post!)
A few updates from the music department. The first grade musical was held last Thursday and was a huge success. The 1st grade students and teachers made the entire event a magical evening. Next up is Kindergarten! The date has been set for March 23rd at 6:00 pm. Please go ahead and mark your calendars.
